Good Morning All, This morning Beckam an I woke up before everyone as usual so I thought to myself why not do a quick video with him. This actually helped me because he was starting to get fussy. Here is a quick video showing the mini idea board I created for the Artsy Addicts Blog on Wednesday. This project was so fun and very easy. I would say this project is beginner level so have fun with this one with frieds and family next time they are over. I plan on doing these for the family and give them to the as gifts. Frugal gift giving is what I am all about. Thanks for stopping in and I hope you enjoyed!

5 Step mini Idea Board!

Step 1. Start with a blank wooden frame from your local Micheals craft store.

Step 2. Paint the wooden frame inside and out with an acrylic paint such as Deco Art.

Step 3.    I picked some designed paper to glue to the background of my wooden frame. I chose                  to use the Planes, Trains, and Automobile collection from marionsmithdesigns.com. You can use any paper you prefer.

Here is the board that I glued the paper down on. I used Helmar glue.

I cut up the paper to fit the board the properly. You can also tear the paper to get a more distressed look. Remember to always listen to music you enjoy when creating as you can see I have my Ipad2 on the table with Pandora music playing.

All the paper is glued down. Now I just glued all of my newspaper clipping from the paper collection I downloaded.

Step 4. Embellish the frame. I used some epoxy resin to adhere the clips to the frame.

Step 5. Now you can pin up ideas that you have to your new mini idea board. When you have some creativity blocks come up remember to refer back to your board for ideas to push you through. As always have fun crafting and enjoy all your ideas.

Today I just wanted to showcase a project that caught my eye. I was helping Marion Smith in our Scraproom Art Studio and I came across this decorated spool and was really inspired. I remember when Marion was messing around with this idea and I was absolutely pleased with the turnout. Maybe I can get her to do a tutorial on the decorating of this hand-crafted spool.

Happy Mother's Day!

Thanks mothers for all that you do.

Here is my to do list for today.

1. Let you sleep in.

2. Make breakfast for the kids while you enjoy your coffee.

3. Put Band-aids on scratches and kiss boo-boos.

4. Clean the house top to bottom while you watch your favorite shows on TV. You know the one you record but never find the time to watch.

5. Give Marion a full body massage and I promise I will do your feet. LOL

6. Tell you how much I love you and that you are the worlds best mother to my kids and when I am a baby myself as well.

Hello blog! Is scrapbooking just for women? Of course not I find creating very stimulating to my mind and calming at the same time. The best thing about it is my wife Marion Smith enjoys crafting with me. She has inspired me so much throughout the years. The most important thing that she has taught me is to follow my dreams after all they are your dreams. I believe that scrapbooking can also be done as a whole family. Some of our best memories are when we are just going through old photos and placing them in mini- albums that we made together. Next time you have the chance to sit down with family and friends enjoy the company and enjoy scrapbooking!

Quick Tip and Technique of the Day!

Easily dress up your mini-album with metal.

Tools and supplies required:
Hammer
jump rings
bottle cap metal trinkets
Tim Holtz Swivel clasps
Vintaj bare brass circle

This project was inspired by a charm bracelet that I saw in my wife's jewelry box. The idea is you can add to this chain when you discover or collect things you find along the way. I love IBC Root Beer it reminds me of when I was a child and played little league. I would always have a Root Bear after our games so I put a bottle cap on the end of the chain. The Vintage Trinket Birdhouse represents my beautiful wife who inspires and motivates me in everything I do. The measuring tape charm represents how much our family has grown and the five is for how many family members we have.

Here is a video that shows how I put this project together enjoy!

Top 5 reasons to try Digital Scrapbooking!

I must admit the first time I heard of digital scrapbooking I wasn't quite sure what to think about it. The first Question I asked myself was "Will the picture quality be as good as patterned paper you buy from craft store?" The answer was heck yes it does! I use a  HP Laser Jet Pro CP1525nw Color Printer and it works brilliantly and can be found at any of your local office supply store. Alright so now let's get into the top five reasons to try Digital Scrapbooking.

Reason #1

You can download patterned paper designs instantly to your computer and print your paper on demand.

Reason #2

Once you download the patterned paper you will have access to the design as many times as your heart desires. This means if you mess up at any time on a piece of paper no worries just print another one.

Reason #3

You can print patterned paper or template any size you want depending on your project. For example if you want to print a 12"x12" paper for a layout or a 6"x6" paper for a mini-album all you do is simply change the settings on your printer. Super easy!

Reason #4

Forget all those paper racks! You can easily store your images on a thumb-drive.

Reason #5

Easily print images on different types of media such as canvas, card stock, vellum, transparency, kraft, iron-on, emulsion film, and more.

Here are a few projects that have been made using downloadable digital scrapbook products. Give it a try and see what you think.
